Method
Dissolve the baking soda in the New Orleans molasses.
Combine the molasses mixture with the sugar, milk, butter, egg, ginger, salt, and flour.
Beat all together thoroughly.
Pour into a flat greased pan and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until done, then cut with a heated knife.

Ginger Bread
One-half cup New Orleans molasses, yi cup sugar, I/3 cup
milk, % cup butter, 1 egg, y^ teaspoon of soda dissolved in
the molasses, 1 teaspoon ginger, 1 scant teaspoon salt, 2 cups
flour. Beat all together thoroughly, bake in flat pan and cut
